Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Will Otto
Class: 2024
Committed to: Emory University

What Has Been Said:

“Greensboro Day is an interesting group to watch early on and will be throughout.  They certainly have the formula for winning games, but they may look a bit different this year.  However, Otto is one that has a big opportunity to step up on the big stage, lead this team, and set by example as well as produce.  Continues to show that he is a smart player on the floor, does a nice job in making plays off the bounce but can also knock down open shots as well.”

“Greensboro Day lost some key players from last year but also return a few key prospects as well.  But one new face for the Bengals this year to watch out for is 2024 Will Otto. He is coming off a season in which he averaged 16 points per game at Broughton but he will now look to be a key piece for GDS, not only helping to replace some offensive firepower but also bring his strong feel/IQ to the team.  Otto is a smart, skilled guard that brings a terrific balance to the court, especially with his playmaking ability, his feel and ability to find his teammates, and his smooth perimeter shooting. There is no doubt, he should be a key piece for Greensboro Day as they hope to make another run at a title under Coach Johnson.”

“A point guard’s impact should be felt on all levels, and GDS’s new addition is doing that. The good thing about how he plays is that he’s not ball-dominant and keeps in constant motion. He knows how to work the offense, feeling when to apply pressure, pull it out, or reverse the ball, and picks his spots nicely using his quickness to attack closeouts and get to his go-to pullup, hitting shots at a high clip while cutting off defenders with his body. He’s proving to seamlessly fill in and lead early this summer.”

“Otto continues to make note-worthy steps in his game and at the Phenom Stay Positive, he showed it all and why he is a force to be reckoned with this summer and down the road.  The young guard displays tremendous IQ, vision, and shooting ability on the court, but is also one that isn’t afraid of the big moments.  He is a multi-level scorer and showed it in a big way, whether it was going for 31 points on Saturday or hitting the game-winner to secure the championship.  He had one of his best tournaments and it will be interesting to see where Otto goes from here this summer.”
