Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Langston Boyd
Class: 2024
Committed to: Georgia Southern

Game Breakdown and What He Brings:

What a weekend it was for Georgia Southern as they landed one of the top players in the Class of 2024 here in North Carolina. Georgia Southern has been able to have success with securing talent from the state, and Boyd looks to be another player that could be an impact player.  When you talk about his game overall, what stands out immediately is his ability to score, make plays off the dribble, and get downhill to score.  He is at his best inside the arc, getting to his spots, attacking and scoring around the basket, and finishing strong. But he continues to add more levels to his game, as he should only continue to develop that at the next level.  He can be physical, but help get others involved on the court, and it will be exciting to see how he continue to translate at the next level and add more to his game.

What Was Said by Phenom:

“In terms of polish and ready-now players, one would be hard-pressed to find many freshmen more capable than Boyd. He already showcases a full game on both ends of the floor and is able to reliably adapt to various roles, whether operating as the primary offensive option or finding opportunities within the flow of the team structure. Even for a program as loaded as North Meck, Boyd should easily be able to emerge as a useful contributor as soon as this season, but certainly going forward. He’s smart, mature, and simply understands how to make the right play with consistency. Boyd is a quality defender, rebounder, and well-rounded athlete that should only become more and more productive over time.”

“It was our first-time seeing Boyd with his new team at Cox Mill but it looks to be the same ol’ Boyd with his game and style of play.  Production and scoring are the name of the game for, as he loves to operate inside the arc, whether it was his pull-up mid-range shot or being physical in getting to the basket. Boyd continues to show that he simply knows how to put the ball in the basket and his areas of where he can be effective, as he had a strong showing on the big stage.”

“Boyd continues to be a bucket-getter on the floor, using his body well, embracing contact, and not backing down.  His ability to score can be impressive, especially inside the arc as he gets out and finishes at the rim, bodies through defenders, or knock down shots with his jumper.”

“Boyd was dominant and never really let up on Day 1 at the Phenom Team Camp.  He scored in a variety of ways but did most of his damage showing an improved mid-range jumper but also getting downhill and finishing strong or getting out in transition. He was a big-time offensive threat and filled it up each time he stepped on the court.”
