Player: Sherod McCormick Jr.
Class: 2027
Hight: 5’10

Phenom Hoops continues to spotlight young players to watch out for, and 2027 Sherod McCormick will be a name that you could be hearing more about.  He has already made a statement on the court as a young point guard in the Phenom Hoops platform, and McCormick should only continue to develop as a dynamic playmaking prospect.

When we watched him in action earlier in 2023, McCormick played with tremendous poise and understanding. He did a nice job in making plays for others, creating off the dribble and distributing, and consistently being a threat himself as a knockdown shooter from behind the arc and with his mid-range shot.  His handles are strong for a player his age, he can get inside the defense, and just has a knack of making things happen when the ball is in his hands.

Make sure you jot his name down if you haven’t already, as he is one to watch further develop.

What Has Been Said:

“This roster has a ton of noteworthy pieces, and Sherod McCormick does so many vital things as their primary floor general. He’s somewhat undersized but simply knows how to control the game through a blend of IQ, pace, and poise. McCormick does a great job of touching the paint and setting up others, but can also finish or hit an array of floaters/runners. He displays craftiness off the bounce, shoots the ball at a reliable percentage, and outworks his assignment on both ends of the floor. McCormick is also a pesky on-ball defender with a quick first step and nice anticipation instincts.”

“There is a lot of promise with the young prospects on CP3 2027. Sherod McCormick and Donyeh Baird are two that you will be hearing more about. Knocked down shots and played well to start the day.”

“2027 Sherod McCormick (Concord Academy) has always possessed a great feel, and it’s remained evident here. Poised, polished, and able to make plays from either guard spot. Makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands.”
