On Tuesday night, Phenom Hoops was also able to cover Charlotte Skill Factory’s sixth and seventh grade girls’ teams. Let’s take a closer look at some of the standouts.
Gavin Tessicini made an impression on the defensive end. She moves her feet well and is an active on-ball defender. Offensively, she excels in the open court with her speed and ability to attack the basket. She finished strong at the end of her drives. More importantly, we were impressed with your overall basketball IQ and confidence on the court.
Jorie Abbott was another player who made her presence felt on the defensive end of the floor. She utilized her athleticism to really make it difficult for opposing ball handlers to initiate the offense and get to their spots to score. Offensively, she moves well without the ball and made multiple scoring cuts. Jorie has good basketball instincts and can make her presence known without scoring.
Malina Bharti showcased a well-rounded skillset at the point guard position. She utilizes her quickness and ball handling ability to make plays off the bounce. Despite her height, she is crafty at the end of drives and had multiple euro-step finishes in the paint. She also showcased the ability to knock down the perimeter jumper. Malini plays with passion and purpose on both ends of the court.
Maddie Lay brought toughness along the perimeter. She prided herself on the defensive end and constantly won 50/50 balls. She has good overall court awareness on both ends of the floor, and showcased good shooting mechanics.
Claire Walby immediately caught our attention with her advanced skillset and understanding of the game. She can handle the ball well and has really nice shooting mechanics. In live action, she looks to make the right play, whether it’s creating her own shot or making a play for a teammate.
Caroline Brady showcased a well-rounded skillset. She handled the ball well under pressure and had multiple finishes at the end of drives. In addition, she was able to knock down shots from the perimeter with good form and mechanics.
Bella Harte provided the team with a reliable, physical presence on the interior. She blocked multiple shots and the ones she didn’t block, she made it very difficult for the opponent to get a clean look at the basket. Offensively, she created second chance opportunities on the glass and finished around the basket.
