Finishing up, we look at a player that did a ton of things well as the main interior presence on this team, Douglas Adiok. He’s a tough, strong-bodied post prospect with great size and solid mobility. Adiok plays with a high motor, especially on the glass, and is capable of consistently outworking opponents as a rebounder on both ends of the floor. Adiok offers a low-maintenance presence and operates effectively within the team structure on either side of the ball. He’s a capable finisher, shot-blocker, and runs the floor well in transition. Next in his development process is working to get quicker, as it would make him better at hedging and recovering in screening situations. Coach Collins on Adiok: “This big man can rebound the ball! Douglas hustles hard from one end of the floor to the other. He can score from under the basket and is capable of protecting the rim. I loved the effort he displayed every time he was in the game.” Adiok proved to be an asset during his time at camp, and will be one to monitor for Gaston Christian over the next calendar year.
What To Expect:
This season, folks should anticipate Adiok being a massively valuable piece for the Eagles. Though he’s still adding polish and developing his overall skillset, he already makes a consistent impact as a low-maintenance piece on both ends of the floor. In a time where so many big men would rather dribble, take jumpers, and simply stand along the perimeter, Adiok actually embraces his identity as an interior piece. He’s strong, tough, physical and plays with a nonstop motor, which naturally overwhelms the majority of opposing big men. Adiok offers a blue-collar approach and clear willingness to do whatever possible to provide his team with an edge. He battles on the glass, makes hustle plays, and positions himself for success defensively. Expect college coaches to lay groundwork sooner than later, as Adiok should be a definite difference-maker this season.
