Some guys will always receive unwarranted doubt due to their size, but Johnson is simply a guy who shouldn’t be bet against. Sure, he’s small, but his skill level is simply on another level from most players in high school basketball. Johnson is a smart, tough, crafty guard prospect with the ability to generate clean looks for himself and others or apply lethal pressure as an off-ball threat. He can initiate the offense and get others involved, but is arguably at his best when looking to score and mix it up from all levels. Johnson is a scrappy defender with the necessary quickness and instincts to force turnovers at a healthy rate.

What To Expect:

Going into his sophomore season, Johnson will be a pivotal piece for Caldwell Academy. He’s a quick, crafty, polished creator and scorer with the ability to initiate the offense, play without the ball, and consistently generate looks for himself and others. Johnson is a reliable shooting threat, both off the catch and dribble, and can assert himself with relative ease from midrange or beyond the arc. That being said, he also actively attacks closeouts and finishes or makes the necessary pass to an open teammate. Johnson is a quality passer who looks to access the best available look whenever possible. Additionally, he’s a tough, scrappy defender who contains opponents quite well at the point of attack—especially for his size. Between his IQ, polish, and intangibles, Johnson will certainly be a prospect for college coaches to watch closely over the coming years.
