What a season and what a run from head coach Josh Coley and Christ School last year, as they were able to walk away with a state title. But this is a team that not only returns so much of the talent from last season, but they also added some big-time talent as well.
This is why the pressure will be on; everyone will be expecting another title run from Christ School.
And when you dive into the roster early on, it is easy to see why so many would peg them as a favorite. After going 31-2 overall, they will be returning players like 2024 6’5 Bryson Cokley, 2024 6’5 Jamari Briggs, 2024 5’10 Keenan Wilkins, 2024 6’10 Jozohn Price, 2024 6’8 Bruce White, 2024 Lleyton Thomas-Johnson, 2025 6’10 Joseph Ahart, and others. That alone should have fans excited about what this team could possibly do.
Wilkins, Cokley, Briggs, and others all should continue to work together, scoring in a variety of ways and bringing a balanced attack from the perimeter. Ahart, White, and Price should bring size once again that makes this team a balanced team. Again, with the players returning, this is a deep team that can operate and make plays in a variety of ways.
But then you add even more to this already-loaded team. 2025 6’8 Zymicah Wilkins is one of the top prospects in his class for North Carolina and should instantly be one of the go-to players on the court and an absolute force down in the paint. 2025 Madden Collins will be another guard that plays with a high IQ, can score from the outside, and be a tremendous player in the rotation along the outside.
Furthermore, there are other players on the roster that will fill out this roster, bring a ton of weapons, and can make this one of the deepest teams not only in the state but in the region. When you look at all that Coach Coley brings back, the pressure will be high… some may say it is championship or bust.
Not always a fan of putting that label on a team, but there is no doubt about… the expectations will be high and deservingly so. Christ School will have the target on its back but has a chance to be one of the best teams in the state of North Carolina over the last few years.
