Head Coach David Carrier has proven to be one of the top coaches in the state of North Carolina, both on and off the court.  When talking to him, you can truly see his passion for the game and for his players, as he has been able to help the Buccaneers build upon their program.

Last year, Charlotte Country Day had a very strong season in which they racked up 20 wins and certainly wasn’t a team to take lightly, as they earned some impressive wins throughout.  But now, Coach Carrier and his staff will have their work cut out, as their roster will be looking a little different this year.

They lost several key seniors from last year, including their leading scorer in Dallas Gardner.  Now, they do return rising senior Amare Bethel and they will need him to elevate and lead this team in a big way.  But they lost five other seniors that helped this team, and this team will be looking young.

Bethel brings tremendous athleticism and has every opportunity to showcase his full arsenal and talent on the court, as he could be a very sneaky player to watch take off, even more, this upcoming season. But they will also be having 2025 6’4 Jerome Lowery helping out, especially bringing size to the court (something that will certainly help this team). And 2026 Joseph Youakim, a strong guard that played well with Team Charlotte, will be one that will help his team lead the charge. Youakim is a competitor, can score in a variety of ways, and brings leadership to the table.

But this is a team that will be young and will be having several new players stepping up. 2028 6’5 Chase Smith could be a name to watch out for, as he will help with size down low and has shown early flashes of what he can provide. 2027 Preston Scott is another youngster, as the point guard is quick, a gym rat, and a tremendous passer on the court; he could be one that steps up. But the list goes on and on with young prospects to watch out for.

Coach Carrier is extremely excited about this program and roster; with his teachings and leadership on the court, this could be a team that once again surprises many with their play and it could also be the building blocks of something strong for years to come.
