What Was Recently Said: Despite being the lone name listed from the western part of the state, Malachi Simpson has been seeing his stock rise in a major way over the last few months. He’s a skilled, athletic wing prospect with great size and a blossoming two-way identity. Simpson can handle the ball, create his own shot, or find opportunities within the flow of the offense. He’s a capable defender and rebounder who knows how to make his presence felt in transition. Simpson is a solid perimeter shooter and reliable finisher who should only continue to get better over the coming years.

What To Expect:

It’s easy to see the appeal with someone like Simpson, who has only gotten better and better over the years. He’s a long, fluid, explosive, and quite skilled for his size/position. Simpson is arguably at his best in the open floor, yet displays useful creation instincts and the ability to apply scoring pressure from multiple levels. He’s strong and tough enough to consistently finish through contact, but knocks down perimeter jumpers at a solid rate from midrange and beyond the arc. Simpson is a solid rebounder and willing defender with clear upside on that end of the floor. Although he’s shown steady growth over the recent years, it feels like Simpson is still just beginning to scratch the surface of his long-term abilities. Expect him to have another highly productive season as the focal point of Hendersonville.
