Summer is ending but that only allows us to highlight players that have really had an impressive summer overall.  Which is exactly what we are going to be doing for the next few weeks.

One player that we have been impressed with this summer on several occasions is 2024 6’1 David Mirikwe, who plays at Chapel Hill high school and has led the charge for Team Stacked this summer.  We had yet another chance to watch this young man in action, and he continues to impress with his overall impact on the court.

When you talk about his game and impact, one can’t deny his ability to make plays offensively. Whether it is his ability to create with strong handles and get inside the defense/paint touches as well as his ability to finish through contact and at the rim, or showing more of his ability to knock down shots, Mirikwe steps up when needed offensively. But he also shines and takes pride in his impact defensively, being strong as an on-the-ball defender and playing with a tremendous motor.

Last year as a junior, Mirikwe averaged 9.4 points per game, while also chipping in 3.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game; again, showing his overall impact on both sides of the floor.  Expect those numbers to increase more, as he continues to bring that leadership, that motor, and a strong two-way presence to the court for Chapel Hill this upcoming season.

What Else Has Been Said by Phenom:

“Mirikwe is known for his athleticism and his ability to finish at the rim, but what impressed a lot on Day 1 was his defensive impact.  He created a lot of havoc on that side of the ball, walling up, staying active, and defending extremely well on the ball.  He was tough to score on all game long, as well as being an offensive weapon for his team.”

“If you’re looking for a good combo guard David should be on your board. David has long arms for his size and is a disrupter on defense. He’s everywhere on the court and makes plays for himself and others. He uses his length to guard 1-3 on defense and his creativity to be a threat on the offensive end. David’s versatility should have him on some coach’s recruiting boards.”
