Given the fact that the next July Live Period is right around the corner, it feels like no better time to start introducing some of the players that college coaches should be monitoring. Currently amidst the busiest recruiting month of the year, our Hardwood Classic should be a hotbed for coaches and players alike. As usual, Phenom Hoops will have prospects of all levels in attendance. This series will continue by taking a closer look at Camren Daniels of Southern Durham and All-Carolina.

We’ve seen Daniels in various types of settings, previously stating, “Next, we look at a player who showcased a pretty complementary array of skills, Camren Daniels. He’s a long, wiry, athletic wing prospect with excellent perimeter shooting and the ability to pose a threat with or without the ball in his hands. Daniels is a lethal spot-up option who moves well without the ball, knocks down open shots, and attacks closeouts whenever necessary. He’s also a reliable finisher and overall defender. Next in his development process is working to improve his creation skills, as it would make him a more complete player. Coach Collins on Daniels: “Camren has the potential to be a lethal shooter once he gets the mentality of realizing he can shoot the lights out. He needs to get his teammates involved more when it comes to defense because he can be a vocal leader. He understands his mistakes and corrects them.” Daniels made a nice impact during his time at camp, and will be a key cog this season for Southern Durham.”

After standing out as a focal point for All-Carolina throughout the summer season, Daniels should be a prime target for various types of scholarship-level programs. Between his size and shooting alone, it’s easy to see the appeal. However, Daniels is far more than just a spot-up threat. He’s a fairly well-rounded guard with size, ball skills, and the ability to make plays for himself and others off the bounce. Daniels is a quality athlete with length, toughness, and a solid motor on both ends of the floor. He displays nice feel as a defender and rebounder, and is capable of producing within a role or leading the charge based on team need. Daniels should have more offers right now, so it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of his summer irons out. College coaches can watch Daniels at the Phenom Hardwood Classic on July 14-16.
