Given the fact that the next July Live Period is right around the corner, it feels like no better time to start introducing some of the players that college coaches should be monitoring. Currently amidst the busiest recruiting month of the year, our Hardwood Classic should be a hotbed for coaches and players alike. As usual, Phenom Hoops will have prospects of all levels in attendance. This series will continue by taking a closer look at Grant Hamilton of Weddington and Team CP3.

We’ve covered Hamilton extensively over the years, recently stating, In terms of Hamilton’s actual on-court identity, he’s a fairly well-rounded player who can legitimately dominate a game from beyond the arc or simply pose an extremely lethal threat at all times. Opponents truly have to stay attached to his hip for every second of the game or he’ll consistently make them pay. He moves extremely well without the ball and possesses basically perfect shooting mechanics. Between his balance, foot placement, and quick release, the precision he displays is truly incredible. If he gets off a clean look, go ahead and count the three points. He never seems to miss off the catch, but is also highly accurate when creating his own shot and firing off the dribble. Hamilton is great off movement or a standstill. That being said, he’s shown abilities far beyond being a pure catch-and-shoot guy. Hamilton is a useful creator and sharp passer who displays IQ, motor, and an understanding of how to play within the team structure. He pursues rebounds, attacks closeouts, and positions himself well defensively. Expect him to have a highly productive junior season for the new-look Warriors.”

After shining as the focal point for CC Elite, Hamilton made a major move to join Team CP3. Not only did he bring his high-level shooting to the EYBL program, he more than held his own as an overall two-way player. However, the 6-foot-2 guard remains among the most under-recruited prospects across North Carolina. One would’ve assumed that his production with a bigger program on a massive stage should’ve led to an uptick in his recruitment—yet here we are. Hamilton is an elite shooter with IQ and a solid blend of vision, athleticism, and defensive ability. He knows his identity exceptionally well on every team and is capable of leading the charge or producing within a role. Given everything he’s shown, Hamilton should be a priority for various types of programs, Division I schools included. Coaches can watch him at the Phenom Hardwood Classic on July 14-16.
