Given the fact that July is right around the corner, it feels like no better time to start introducing some of the players that college coaches should be monitoring. Going into the busiest recruiting month of the year, our Summer Havoc should be a hotbed for coaches and players alike. As usual, Phenom Hoops will have prospects of all levels in attendance. This series will continue by taking a closer look at Tyler Showalter of Butler and BSA Supreme.

We’ve watched Showalter closely throughout his growth as a player, recently stating, “Going forward, it wouldn’t be outlandish to predict somewhat of a breakout season for Showalter. His unselfish, well-rounded identity won’t necessarily result in thirty or forty-point scoring bursts, but it should allow him to reliably affect all facets of the game on a nightly basis. Showalter can score the ball in a variety of ways and fill it up as needed offensively, but his status as the ultimate teammate simply understands how to defer to others and play within the flow of a team structure. He’s a quality defender and rebounder who utilizes his length well to disrupt opponents on both ends of the floor. Showalter is an efficient scorer from all levels, but also regularly finds opportunities as a cutter and spot-up threat. His glue-guy status should make him a very valuable piece for this group over the next two seasons.”

Although everyone already knows that BSA Supreme is a well-oiled machine, it feels like Showalter still deserves more attention from college coaches. His appeal should be fairly obvious as a skilled, versatile 6-foot-6 wing/forward with athleticism, ball skills, and shooting ability. Showalter possesses the necessary size and on-court tools to consistently impact all facets of the game without needing to force anything. He knows how to cut, post-up, spot-up, or simply find a way to involve himself in the action. Showalter is a reliable defender with the length, instincts, and toughness to cause problems for opponents. He plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor and pursues rebounds on every possession. Showalter also does a great job of making hustle plays and simply being a poised piece within their construct. Add in his IQ, unselfishness, and adaptability, and college programs should definitely be enticed. Showalter can be seen at our Summer Havoc on July 6-7.
