Player: James Minlend
Class 2026
Height: 6’4
AAU: Harrisburg Hornets
New names continue to pop up yearly, and one player that grabbed our attention at Phenom Hoops this past weekend at the Team Camp was 2026 6’4 James Minlend, who was playing with Harrisburg Hornets.
Minlend is the younger brother of Charles Minlend, who played at San Francisco for three seasons and then transferred to Louisville. Now, it seems like the trend will be continuing in the family, as James is one that I would have my eye on. Though still young, there is a lot to like but there is a lot still a ton of potential in what he ultimately may be. When watching him though, he has length, athleticism, and the upside that grabs your eyes. Time after time, he was finishing strong at the rim, displayed good handles and ability to create, brings versatility to the table, and showed that he can fill it up consistently.
Just check out what was said at the event this past weekend, as Minlend should be on your watch list.
What Was Said:
“Minlend is a player that really grabbed our attention each time he stepped on the court. The 6’4 long prospect was able to play off the bounce, get out in transition, use his length to his advantage, and also display bounce in his game in finishing at the rim. Has the ability to guard multiple positions and is one that has a lot of potential with his game.”
“Not many guys have the array of options to choose from with their attack at this age like James. The obvious appeal is in his length, as it opens up so much more of his capabilities, particularly with his controlled extension around the rim. Built like a longer wing but running the show and making the majority of management decisions, James has a favorable matchup with most and takes his time to pull it out and survey the floor unlike most guys with his build and athleticism.”
