One of the latest schools to get involved with 2023 6’8 Sultan Adewale, it seems that it was enough to ultimately earn a commitment for Iona.  Adewale is a player Phenom Hoops has highlighted in the past, and on Saturday, he announced that he would be committing to the program.  He now joins four other players including Jeremiah Quigley, Jean Aranguren, Alex Bates, and Dylan Saunders in a strong 2023 class.

Here is what we had to say about his game when we viewed him, as well as what he had to say about his decision.

What Was Said by Phenom:

“2023 Sultan Adewale has been strong early on. A 6’8 forward has been making plays and showing his ability to operate in a variety of ways. His recruitment has really taken off.” – Patrick O’Brien from Axe Euro Tour in 2022

Phenom 1-on-1:

Phenom: In the end, what made Iona the place for you' What were the ultimate factors that went into your decision'
Adewale: An amazing relationship, and it is in New York, so it is close to home, and it is close to tons of family. It is close to London too.

Phenom: What kind of relationship were you able to build with that program and staff'
Adewale: They had plans for me and I watched Coach Tobin Anderson at Fairleigh Dickinson this past March. It was also great my high school coach feels like I can fit in there.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game'
Adewale: I would describe myself as an inside-out guy, very versatile, with very long arms that can guard multiple positions, stretch the floor, and is athletic. Also, phenomenal rebounder.

Phenom: What do they hope you can bring to the program as far as your game'
Adewale: They think I can be a high-energy guy and a valuable piece to what they are trying to become, as long as I work. As they said, there is no one like me on the roster and I genuinely believe that, and it is a good opportunity.
