Just because the LIVE period is over in April, doesn’t mean that Phenom Hoops is stopping their coverage, as we are bringing you a ton of post-event coverage as well throughout the coming weeks.  Let’s dive into a few players and teams that we saw at the event, as we shed light on players that performed well throughout.

Wave Basketball Club – Diaz

A sneaky team that had a good weekend and opened a bit of eyes was Wave Basketball Club Diaz, a program with under-the-radar players that performed well. It was intriguing to watch this program in action, and overall this is a team that plays really well together and has plenty of weapons. Just check out what one of our scouts, Ethan Reece, had to say about the overall team.

“WAVE Basketball Club 2024 Diaz might just be the best shooting team in attendance, 4-5 serious shooting threats that you can’t lose track of, but they move the ball so well and never get stagnant due to great off-ball movement, high IQ and unselfish play.”

Let’s dive into the roster a bit, as we start with 2024 Davion Riddick. Riddick had a very good weekend, scoring over 20 points in multiple showings, and was the clear leader on the court. He produced in a big way, creating and making plays, attacking the defense, and scoring in a variety of ways. Riddick did so well, our scout had this to say:

“His ability and understanding of free-flowing 5-out offense was really impressive and allowed him to expose defenses for any small mistake. He’s a crafty, well-sized, shot creator that is lethal off the catch or bounce, but he also has the sense and passing to create for others when getting into the heart of the defense. Along with his balanced array of shooting teammates, he kept in motion with good ball movement and was willing to make the extra pass for the best looks, even if it meant giving up his good one.”

2024 6’6 Ellis Wright was another player that played well, showcasing his length, being an effective weapon from all levels (either stepping out or playing strong around the basket).  He was really able to be a tough matchup on the court, and could be used in a variety of ways.  2024 Tyler Ellis is a 6’3 prospect that was able to bring balance as well to the court, moving well without the ball, knocking down open shots, but also not settling and getting to the line. Continuing on, 2024 6’3 Demeir Pollard was able to be a threat from outside and also stepped up in big moments, including getting a key bucket in overtime.  High IQ, vision, and ability to play a valuable role and scoring option for his team.  2024 6’0 Seth Burnham was simply another guard that was a weapon, continuing that trend with this team in their ability to knock down shots. As his coach says, he is a strong two-way presence and embraces physicality on the court.
