Just because the LIVE period is over in April, doesn’t mean that Phenom Hoops is stopping their coverage, as we are bringing you a ton of post-event coverage as well throughout the coming weeks.  Let’s dive into a few players and teams that we saw at the event, as we shed light on players that performed well throughout.

WBC Elite Aria Paris

2026 5’9 QuinSier Waddell (Laney):  The rising sophomore guard had a valuable freshman season for Laney and could be the start of the future for this program down the road. Playing this past high school season in all 28 games and averaging nearly 4.0ppg and 0.9spg, Waddell was able to make his presence felt in Raleigh. Being more of the lead guard on the court, Waddell was able to show more of his offensive capabilities with his ability to make plays off the bounce, score in a variety of ways, knock down shots from multiple levels, and show more of his toughness.  He was the main go-to guy for his team.

WBC Elite 15u

2026 6’5 Ny’Zion Ballard – When sitting down to watch a bit more of WBC Elite, 2026 6’5 Ny’Zion Ballard was the first one to really pop out.  For his age, Ballard has great length and size, really blossoming with his ability to impact the game around the basket. He is mobile, displays athleticism, creates problems in terms of getting on the boards and putback opportunities, and he could be a name that really blossoms even more down the road.  Ballard is a prospect that I would jot down and watch as he develops and grows.

WBC Elite 16u

When you talk about this group, there is talent certainly to be found and should be a program more on the watch with college coaches as they get older. You first have to start with the dynamic duo that has been performing at a high level at every event, 2025 Rodmik Allen and 2025 Zymir Batts. Allen just earned his first D1 offer from Charleston, but these two players will have college coaches talking for quite some time now. Both can absolutely fill it as they are dynamic guards that bring toughness, score in a variety of ways, and bring a strong two-way presence on both ends. They also complement each other well on the floor when they play. 2025 Kamar Fulton brings a strong presence around the basket, and was a consistent presence throughout the event, while others like 2026 6’1 Kellum Brown and 2025 6’0 Jakim Beatty also stepped up nicely as well.

WBC Elite 2024

2023 6’5 Khalil Genwright – The unsigned senior was a name that we were interested in watching more, as he has been seeing an uptick in his recruitment with offers coming his way.  And we have said before that he is an underrated guard in the state, especially with his toughness, his ability to get downhill, his blend of size and ability to create, and his overall strength. He continued to lead the way and showcase what we have consistently seen throughout his career.

Other players that were able to make some noise at the event was 2024 5’10 Jaylen Herring, a tough guard that was able to be a valuable source offensively, and did much of his damage inside the arc.  2024 6’2 Hezron Driver was another weapon at the team’s dispense, knocking down big shots from multiple levels.
