Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Patrick Tivnan
Class: 2023
Committed to: Dartmouth
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“His foundation as a tough, fluid, mobile post prospect has steadily transformed him into a two-way problem. The 6-foot-8 Tivnan is a reliable finisher, both from the block and above the rim, and plays with an aggressive mentality at all times. He’s a quality rebounder, rim-protector, and useful piece in transition. Although the percentages don’t necessarily reflect it right now, Tivnan has also improved to become a respectable perimeter shooter and overall floor-spacing option. He understands how to make an impact with or without the ball in his hands, and just naturally seems to produce in all settings.”
“Given the general value big men will always provide, it’s difficult to understand why Patrick Tivnan is still available. Fortunately, his recruitment has picked up over the recent months but still feels lacking overall. He offers a terrific blend of touch, footwork, toughness, and perimeter shooting. Tivnan is polished enough to purposefully adapt to whatever the opposition is giving him, taking advantage of bigger opponents by spacing the floor or attacking off the bounce and punishing smaller opponents by taking them inside the paint. He plays with phenomenal energy on both ends of the floor, especially as a rebounder, and passes the ball very well for his size.”
“Although there are plenty of unsigned seniors on display, Tivnan is likely the best big man available across the state. He’s very skilled with the blend of touch, footwork, and perimeter shooting to cause a ton of problems for opponents. Tivnan prefers to operate from the block, but can also be featured from the high post or atop the key. He’s tougher than opponents seem to think, which is evidenced by his activity level and ability to outwork others for rebounds on both ends of the floor. Tivnan also handles the ball well and effectively alters shots around the basket.”
“It was good to see the big man back in action; knowing what to expect with his game, he just sent a reminder of how dynamic he can be with his skillset. The 6’8 senior continues to show how poised he is on the court, displaying tremendous footwork and ability to create his own shot, stretch the court with his outside game, and using his frame to play strong down in the post.”
