Concord Academy and High Point Christian started off an exciting day of basketball in the NCISAA Championship games, and it was Concord Academy that came out incredibly strong led by 2023 Zoey Ward. Ward made her presence known early and often, while 2024 Samantha Meyers made High Point Christian pay with a few early three-pointers. Their hot start and balance allowed Concord Academy to jump out to a 27-9 first-quarter lead. Concord Academy continued to attack the paint and find success down low, as the offense was rolling. They continued to build upon their lead, eventually taking a 42-18 halftime lead. High Point Christian tried to get out in transition, but shots didn’t quite fall for them.
In the second half, High Point Christian started to get a little momentum offensively going but still struggled to find consistency in scoring the ball. On the other hand, Concord Academy continued to make it a point to attack the paint and score, as well as attack the boards which also helped. Throughout the third quarter, Concord Academy was able to maintain their 20+ point lead throughout, eventually leading 55-29. This game looked well in hand, as it was a dominant performance by Concord Academy, as they walked away with a 3A State Title.
