Position: Guard
High School: Eastern Guilford

We take a look at an unsigned senior at Eastern Guilford who is back on the court after a tough start to the season.  2023 5’3 Kayla Reynolds had a rough start due to an injury but is now back on the court with her team, and looking to lead the charge with her teammates.  She spoke to us about the latest but also what has been going on with her recruitment as well.

Phenom: How has everything been going this season for you and your team so far'
Reynolds: I’ve been hurt, I was out for eight weeks.  I have only been back for four games so far but have been limited time. In my four games back though, they have had me shooting from the outside and I’m shooting 50 percent from three so far.  I had a high ankle sprain right before the season.

Phenom: Tough start to the season but what was it like to get back on the court with your teammates'
Reynolds: It feels great to be back on the court and be able to finish out my senior season with my teammates and friends.  We were not sure if I was going to be able to play this year. Sitting on the bench for so long, I was able to sit back and watch and observe.  We have a lot of new girls, and I learned a lot just by watching.  Once I was able to get back on the court, I knew what I needed to do to help the new girls and my team out.

Phenom: Now on the court, how would you best describe your game and how you like to operate and attack'
Reynolds: I am a pass-first point guard who likes to get my teammates involved in the game.  I get the ball down the court with ease.  I excel in dribbling, seeing the floor, I have a variety of ways I can score; driving, jump shot, and from three.

Phenom: How has everything been going as far as recruitment for you'
Reynolds: I have three offers at D3 schools. Johnson and Wales-Charlotte, Regent University, and William Peace.  I am going to Meredith College next week for an official visit. I think they may offer me. I also have a JUCO offer from GTCC.

Phenom: Is any of those schools really standing out in your eyes'
Reynolds: My top two right now are Johnson and Wales, and GTCC. GTCC because I like the coach. Johnson and Wales because I really like the coach/team and the area, and the education will be great.
