One of the top players in the country, 2024 Isaiah Brown recently announced that he had added another offer from a school very close. Florida is the latest to join in his recruitment and is the first SEC school to offer the 6’4 prospect. He spoke to Phenom Hoops about his thoughts on the offer and who else has been staying strong his way.
Phenom: What are your thoughts on the offer from Florida and what kind of relationship have you been able to build with them so far'
Brown: The kind of relationship I’ve been able to build with the program and team is with some of the players I played against since I was younger, so it’s people I know and have seen play multiple times. The coaches, it’s like a family; they’ll tell you what you’re doing good and bad, and will be there for you if you’re having an off game and they are there to build with you. My thoughts on the offer were that I was pretty excited to have gotten that offer.
Phenom: What did they have to say when they offered you about your game'
Brown: That they like my game. I’m a hooper and can tell that I’m a student of the game. High IQ and someone that will fit right in. That I’m a scorer and will do all the other little things to help the team win and have a good family.
Phenom: Who else has been strong in developing a relationship with you these days'
Brown: The schools that have been in contact the most are FAU and Florida Gulf Coast.
Phenom: Have any visits planned'
Brown: Nothing as of right now.
Phenom: What all offers do you hold currently'
Brown: Portland, USF, Ohio, FAU, Buffalo, Stetson, Florida, Kennesaw State, Louisiana Tech, FAMU, Hofstra, VCU, Tulsa, High Point, and FGCU.
Phenom: Do you have any schools that you will want to visit down the road' And any dream school'
Brown: I don’t have a dream school. But I wouldn’t mind going to visit schools like Alabama, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, VCU, Murray State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, and SMU. I have already visited Ohio University, Florida, FAU, and FGCU.
Phenom: How were those visits and what stood out from each one'
Brown: The visits I have already taken were pretty good. Ohio had a nice campus and the city, where it is located, is made exactly for them so it’s a perfect college town. What I like about FGCU is that basketball is their main focus; there’s no football so it’s a basketball school with dedicated alumni supporters. Florida, the facilities were nice and everything was set to take care of you out there and they have some die-hard supporters, so the environment is great. FAU is also another good school they have everything they need in the area they are in being close to the beach is also a plus.
