Phenom Hoops recently tuned into a game down in Rocky Mount to check out the talent around the area, and one player that really caught our eyes and is now on the radar with us was 2026 Kira Jones with the Gryphons.
Though just a freshman, Jones has gotten off to a great start to the season and impressed with her overall impact on the court. On the season so far, Jones is averaging 10.4ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.3apg, and 3.5spg, showing her overall impact on the court. And when we watched her, it was easy to see her presence on both sides of the court.
Jones plays hard and scrappy, really getting up into opponents and allowing her defense to quickly turn into offense. She did a great job out in transition, as she is a quick guard that plays at a nice pace and was able to make plays off the dribble. Jones is a crafty young guard and has a very nice feel with her scoring ability and release on her shot.
She plays extremely hard but also knows how to balance her scoring and being a team player and making the right decision. Rocky Mount certainly has high expectations this season, and Jones is going to be a key piece this year and down the road for this program; and is one to start tracking today.
