When talking about the 6’11 prospect, there is a lot to like about his game. He was once living in Uganda but is from South Sudan; and when talking about him over the last few months, many may know him as Gabriel Mabor at Gaston Christian (but his full name is Makoi Mabor Marier).
Marier has been an absolute monster this season, and he continues to get better and understands more about the game each time we see him. He is a physical force down in the paint that moves well, is a strong finisher at the rim, shows good touch and feel in the post/paint, and is an absolute load on the boards. Marier plays big and is even bigger when he keeps the ball high, has nice timing in second-chance points, runs the floor well, and can be a huge presence as a rim protector. And we believe it is just the start for this young man, as he continues to add more and understands more about the game each time we see him.
Though he holds no offers as of yet, many schools have expressed interest his way and it could be just a matter of time before those offers start rolling in.
