The second contest of the John Wall Holiday Invitational took place between Purcell Marian and Millbrook High School. The stage was set for a highly competitive matchup, and that’s exactly what we received. Millbrook opened the game in an aggressive fashion and established an early lead. That being said, Purcell Marian never allowed the deficit to grow larger than two possessions and kept themselves within reach for the entirety of the first half. At halftime, Millbrook led 29-23 over Purcell Marian. After the break, both teams began to heat up offensively and each had their highest-scoring quarter. Millbrook led 47-43 entering the final period of play. Everything quickly shifted, as Purcell Marian locked in defensively and hit back-to-back three-pointers to capture a lead at 56-51. Two more three-pointers later, and the Cavaliers ultimately put things out of reach for the Wildcats. Purcell Marian secured a 62-54 victory over Millbrook.
