Every year players go under the radar all throughout the country.  One player that has been a name popping up on multiple occasions as of late is 2024 6’8 Jared Taylor.  He showed up again at the Hoop State Fall League for Charlotte Elite Academy and he could be one that I may have my eyes on a little bit more with what he has continued to show.

In Week 1, Taylor really showcased his explosiveness and athleticism at 6’8, finishing strong at the rim, looking to rip the rim off, and also attacking the boards. He is also intriguing with his skill set of getting on the boards and pushing in transition or his overall ability to run the floor. In the past, Taylor also was able to impress with his overall physicality on the court. He certainly put on some highlight-worthy plays in Week 1, time after time finishing at the rim but also displaying athleticism on the defensive end, as well as being mobile in how he can operate. Though there is still room for growth, I think he could be that slips under the radar and could be a nice get for a program.

Right now, he has been hearing a little interest from Lees-McRae, but it will be interesting to see if more comes his way after another high school season.

What Has Been Said:

“Taylor is one that should be getting on more radars.  Taylor opened eyes to how explosive he can be on the court on both sides.  Whether it was throwing it down with power at the rim or blocking shots, he was high-flying throughout.  But he is also very skilled, showing the ability to rebound strong and push in transition.  Mobile forward at 6’8 and played very well for his team.”

“Taylor was quite impressive in what was an intense matchup.  But Taylor came to compete against some premier talent and had several of our scouts talking about his physical play, his ability to finish strong down in the paint and at the rim, and his relentless motor.  Really made his impact felt with his high motor, his presence down low, and being all over the boards. Impressive showing from the young man.”

“There are plenty of quality prospects on Ace Elite, and Taylor arguably stood out as their most impressive performer in this contest. He’s a big, strong, mobile post prospect with a sturdy frame and the ability to physically overwhelm opponents around the basket. Taylor finishes with touch and athleticism, but also makes a lasting impression with his high motor. He rebounds his position, runs the floor in transition, and makes hustle plays whenever possible.”
