There may have not been a bigger stock riser in the country more than 2023 Jamie Kaiser and it was more than a week ago that he announced the would be joining the Maryland family, announcing his commitment to the program. But his time hasn’t slowed down, as he went recently to Chicago to put on a show at the UA Elite 24.

Now, the summer is coming to an end, and he will be looking toward new adventures at IMG and further on at Maryland. Phenom Hoops recently caught up with Kaiser to dive more into his decision and his focus no with his decision behind him.

Phenom: What made Maryland the ultimate place for you in the end'
Kaiser: Well, I had been a fan since I was young and watched Maryland basketball and football games. I just felt so comfortable every time I was on that campus.

Phenom: How did you inform the staff about your decision and what did they have to say'
Kaiser: I took an unofficial here on August 4th, sat down, and watched some film and I knew that it was the right time to pull the trigger.

Phenom: How do they see using you in their system'
Kaiser: Coach said I would be able to really work on my game and create off pick and rolls or isolations; a lot of it coming off different types of screens for my shot.

Phenom: What were other parts of the program that really sold you on Maryland'
Kaiser: Coach said I was going to have a really big role early on and be in the game during winning time.

Phenom: Have you been in touch with anyone as far as your class and hopefully joining you'
Kaiser: Deshawn Harris-Smith.

Phenom: What has this journey been like for you when you look back at everything'
Kaiser: Oh, it has been full of faith and trust in God. Because at first, when I had very little I was ok with it and appreciated what I had but I knew that if I kept working hard, I could get bigger and just take advantage of opportunities.

Phenom: What will be your focus now at IMG' How do you want to improve and play against that type of competition'
Kaiser: Just to be as college ready as possible.  I just want to prove that I’m good enough at that level and have an impact on my team, winning many games.
