He may have been the player of the event with what he showed all weekend and just how consistent he was all throughout the Phenom MDC. 2024 DJ Shine simply put on a show in all four games in Advance, posting scoring outputs of 25, 16, 22, and then ending his day with a 34-point outburst. In those four games, Shine nearly averaged 25 points per game, scoring in a variety of ways but really leaving a lasting impression with his ability to create his shot and make a living in the lane.
Time after time, we saw the strong, sturdy guard make plays ff the dribble, displaying a knack for getting by or going through his defender to finish in the lane along with a little bounce to his game. But that didn’t slow him down from also showing how he can get to his spots, knock down the mid-range shot and stretch the floor from three as well. To put it easy, he was a bucket all weekend long. Here are just a few things of what our scouts said when watching him.
“2024 DJ Shine (Upward Stars) Is super talented! Has a nice mid-range touch to him and there is really nothing that could speed him up. He was hitting shots and getting to the rim at will. Special kid right here.”
“2024 DJ Shine (Upward Stars 3SSB) has been exceptional all weekend. Another huge game. Has knocked down 3s & been living in the lane. Stock riser.”
“2024 DJ Shine showed why he is a playmaker on the floor. He was effective in getting into the paint to score, finishing through contact, and made plays off the bounce. #PhenomMDC”
“2024 DJ Shine (Upward Stars 3SSB) has made a living getting into the paint. Tough, physical guard who creates paint touches. Finishes thru contact & does a good job of getting to the foul line.”
Shine is another prospect from the state of South Carolina that had a productive weekend in Advance at the Phenom MDC, and he should only use this weekend to gain traction heading into the LIVE Periods coming up.
