2024 6’5 Carlos Vazquez has been a name mentioned quite a few times over the last few months. We first started to notice his game with Wayne Country Day, where he was quietly posting double-doubles, displaying tremendous production, was active on the boards, and making plays mostly on the block down low.
But with the start of summer ball, we are getting a chance to see the full arsenal that Vazquez has been working within his game. With the talent around him at Wayne Country Day, he fulfills what is needed from him. But with Eastern Carolina Phenomz so far, Vazquez is really showing that he is much more than a player that can produce down low on the block.
Vazquez has really opened so many eyes with his ability now to be a primary creator on the court. He is showing more of his ability to operate more along the perimeter, his ability to step out and be a threat from outside, and how strong he can be as a player that puts it on the deck and create for himself, getting to the basket and finishing. Add on top of his IQ and feel for the game at his age, along with his vision, his smart decisions, and how efficient he can be on the court, Vazquez is quickly becoming a strong prospect in the class of 2024 (more so than he was before).
That is why, even though it is still somewhat early for the Class of 2024, Vazquez should be a name that many college coaches will want to jot down and check out as he continues to improve and showcase his full arsenal on the court.
What Has Been Said:
“Vazquez has been impressive every time we have seen him and with his travel ball team, we get to see more of his game and exactly just what he can do. We have known his production and impact on the boards from his high school season but with Phenomz, he really gets a chance to show how versatile he can be, how he can step out and handle while creating for himself. Vazquez knows how to use his body, get to the basket, and finish but also make plays in a variety of other ways.”
“Carlos should have a productive summer, as well as an overall productive junior season for Wayne Country Day. The aggressive, attacking wing makes good use of his size/length well when extending at the rim. The multi-faceted leader puts in the effort on both ends and is continuing to refine his rebounding capabilities.”
