Player: Tyler “Tybo” Bailey
Class: 2024
School: Mount Tabor
AAU: Team Loaded VA
First playing for Oak Hill before coming back to North Carolina, 2024 Tybo Bailey certainly left an impression with his play and is looking to come out strong this summer with Team Loaded VA. Bailey helped the Spartans to a strong run in the playoffs this past high school season, really showing his ability to light it up and score the ball. Now, he is looking to come out and compete, and continue to remind everyone of just what he can provide on the court; and college coaches are taking notice.
Phenom Hoops was able to catch up with Bailey with the latest; his play this past season at Mount Tabor, his mindset this summer, and what is going on in his recruitment.
Phenom: How has this AAU season started off for you so far'
Bailey: It started off well. I love to be back with my AAU teammates and my coaches, but also the team and I have a couple of things to work on.
Phenom: What is your mindset heading into this summer as far as your game and what you want to show more about your game'
Bailey: My mindset is to compete and win games, and make my teammates better every game. I want to show that I can be a point guard that can run a team, make the right reads, and my athleticism.
Phenom: You had a terrific season. How was it coming back to North Carolina and playing at Mount Tabor'
Bailey: It was great. I really enjoyed it. It was good playing and seeing my old friends.
Phenom: How would you say you have developed as a player over the last year or so'
Bailey: I would say I have developed well. My dad has helped me along the way, he is a big reason why I have had most of my success, but I still have two more years, even more time to get better and develop.
Phenom: How has your recruitment been going overall for you in your eyes'
Bailey: It has been good; I am very blessed with the schools that have recruited me.
Phenom: What offers do you currently hold'
Bailey: Temple, Creighton, Virginia Tech, VCU, Hampton, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, and North Carolina A&T.
Phenom: Who has been staying in touch with you or showing the strongest interest your way early on'
Bailey: VCU, Creighton, and Wake Forest.
Phenom: You have been able to make a few visits already. What schools have you gone to so far'
Bailey: I have visited UCLA, Wake Forest, VCU, and Georgia Tech.
Phenom: What stood out about those visits'
Bailey: I would say the big facilities and development the colleges do on a day-to-day basis with their guys.
Phenom: What have those schools that have offered said they like about your game early on'
Bailey: They say they like my feel for the game. Some say they like how I can score the ball well; some say they like I can shoot off the catch and dribble.
Phenom: Who else has been showing interest your way but has yet to offer'
Bailey: Ohio State, Appalachian State, and UCLA.
