John Meeks Commits to Bucknell

It has been a big year for Meeks. At this point, last season, colleges were not really recruiting Meeks. However, he led The Burlington School to 34-1 record and picked up 15 offers along the way.
Meeks averaged 16 points and 7 boards per game last year. He played this Summer for PSB Elite and things really took off. The lefty is explosive and plays with a non-stop motor. He always seems to be in the right place and game in and game out makes winning plays on both ends of the floor.
During this time, Meeks stood out at the prestigious North Carolina Top 80. After his performance we wrote, “Consistency is John Meeks calling card. He combines tremendous athleticism along with an advanced skill set plus a high basketball IQ. Coach West stated, “John had three great games. He is so athletic, jumps well and finishes with dunks! John was a great kid to coach.” In our opinion, John may be one of the most underrated and undervalued players in the state for his class. He has tremendous timing for offensive rebounds that are finished with dunks. He can shoot off the dribble, catch and shoot and can easily score from all three levels on the court. John has a complete game and should see his stock rise immensely this summer. Yes, he is that good!”
Meeks thanks Phenom Hoops for their part in the major boost in his recruitment, “Y’all helped get my name out there and at the same times you put coaches in the stands to watch my teammates and me play.”
Meeks says that, at the end of the day Bucknell was the right choice for him. “It felt like the right place for me, and my family loved it. I really like the atmosphere on campus. Around town it seemed to be very positive about Bucknell basketball.”
Meeks is also very excited about the role he is looking to play at Bucknell. Meeks said, “They are going to look at me primarily as a 2/3 wing. They want me to attack in transition and (depending on the match up) have the option to post up.”
Meeks chose Bucknell over a final group that included Delaware and Army. His AAU Coach Sim Frazier said about Meeks,“He is a swiss army knife! Meeks just gets stuff done. He shots it, rebounds it, guards…whatever the situation, Meeks can help any team.”
