A player that has garnered our interest a lot more this year has been Lake Norman Christian’s 2023 Josh Bullock, who has really elevated and worked on his craft this season.  We really got our first view of Bullock’s improved game at the November Classic, where he put on a show.  Our very own, Patrick O’Brien, has this to say about Bullock as he was one of the best players we saw over the weekend.

“Bullock has been on the Phenom Hoops radar for over a year now but getting our first glimpse of him this season, one can see that this 2023 point guard is quickly on the rise.  Bullock has the poise, the IQ, and a strong feel that allows him to play within the game.  He makes terrific decisions, looks to run the offense and get his teammates involved, but also really showed his ability to create his own shot.  He made some big shots in a big game vs. Liberty Heights and it seems that he has taken his game to another level since last year.”

The tough, rugged guard has continued to show his ability to be a leader and a true scoring threat from all levels, as he is a playmaker who understands how to run the offense but creates opportunities for himself. We recently caught up with the junior guard to learn about how his season has gone and who has been showing interest his way. Check out what he said.

Phenom: How has it been leading the charge at Lake Norman Christian' What has it shown you and what have you learned so far from your time there'
Bullock: It has been great leading Lake Norman Christian. The atmosphere is great and it is easy being a leader when your teammates know when to buy in.  Being at Lake Norman has taught me how to be more of a vocal leader and not just to lead by example.

Phenom: How has your game grown over the years' What areas are you still looking to work on'
Bullock: My game has grown tremendously in my opinion. I use to only be able to score in the paint but I can score at all three levels and my right hand got better over the years.  I still want to continue working on all of my craft but mostly my floaters and learning how to finish through contact.

Phenom: what is the summer looking like for you'
Bullock: Right now, I and my parents haven’t made a decision on where I’ll be yet as far as AAU.

Phenom: What are you looking to show more this summer with your game'
Bullock: I just want to be the best player I can be wherever I go and I want to show that I can lead a team and win.

Phenom: What has it been like learning from Coach McCarthy' How has he helped you'
Bullock: It has been a good experience and he has helped me build my confidence to take more shots and build my leadership skills to be a more vocal leader.

Phenom: Has anything been going on with your recruitment'
Bullock: UNC Asheville, Wofford, and East Tennessee State have shown interest. They have been just communicating heavily.

Phenom: What have they been saying'
Bullock: I have been on the phone with Asheville coach a lot. I haven’t talked to East Tennessee State coach in a few days; I’m supposed to be hearing from him soon.

Phenom: Have you made any visits'
Bullock: Had a visit to Appalachian State and Wofford. I’m supposed to go to Asheville soon though.
