Phenom Hoops continues to make it a point to get out and watch the talent around North Carolina.  Last week, we went down the road to Mallard Creek to check in on what the Mavs will be bringing to the court this year.  Though a heavy guard team, expect this team to get after it and look to create havoc on both ends.  There will be a few key leaders that will need to step up along with a few new names they will need to rise to the occasion, as we dive more into some of the players to watch.

2022 Titus Cunningham: Being the only senior on the team, Mallard Creek is going to depend on him a lot.  He is a long, versatile prospect that has great size at 6’5.  Cunningham has good athleticism to his game, can put the ball on the deck, finish at the rim, and showed that he will be one of the leaders for this group.  He also can defend multiple positions on the court.

2023 Kaden Ross: A guard that can play on and off the ball well, as well as creates well for himself on the court.  He is another prospect that will look to step up and be a leader for this group.  He also excels on the defensive end, putting pressure on the ball and forcing turnovers.  Showcases a nice mid-range game.

2023 Russell Hawkins: Hawkins is a smooth shot-maker on the floor for Mallard Creek.  He knows how to space the floor and get to his spots, knocking down jumpers from multiple levels.  One of the more consistent shooters on the floor for Mavs.

2023 Bryson Davis: He is one that returns and earned valuable experience last season; now he is looking to make an even bigger impact.  Davis is a strong point guard and finishes strong around the rim and in transition.  He also is a strong defender and shows really good court awareness in helping lead the charge.

2024 Al-Terrick Bogar: Bogar is a young point guard that has good handles and should help with depth for this team.  He understands and reads the floor well, while also showing that he knows how to get others involved on the court.

2025 Jalyn Connor: Though one of the younger guards, Connor really captured our eyes as a big-time shot-maker.  A fluid shot in his game; he may be the best shooter on the team especially from three.  He showed countless times the ability to knock down shots from deep.

2025 Jaxon Keeling: Another young prospect that should see some playing time early on at Mallard. He is a 5’10 prospect, can knock down shots, and plays with good size.

Mallard Creek will also have other plays that should see the floor and help this team.  2024 Khyree McCalister is a football player as well but is a 6’5 prospect that brings size to the table and can battle on the boards.  2023 Deontae Walker, 2023 Savon Saunders, and 2023 Alijah Andrews should also be names that help on the court.
