Carmel Christian will be looking a little different this upcoming season with a few new names, one of which will be 2022 Nyles Howard.  The 6’4 point guard announced that he would be heading to Carmel, looking to step right in and continue the winning ways for the program and help lead the charge.

With Howard’s size and skillset, it will be interesting to see how he can step right in but from what we have seen with Rod Howard Select and at the NCISAA LIVE Period, it seems that he is feeling comfortable in running the offense under Coach Badgett.

“I already like playing with them (Carmel Christian) a lot, just from these two weeks of games,” Howard told Phenom Hoops.  “We have good chemistry with each other and we are all unselfish.  We have been having workouts since February, preparing for the upcoming season and the ultimate goal is a state championship.”

When speaking more about Howard and what he hopes to provide to the program, the point guard wants to be a pass-first point guard that wants to do whatever the team needs to win.  If they need him to score, he can do that… if they need him to facilitate, he can do just that as well.  Howard just wants to do what is best for the team to get the win.

Learning more about his game, here is how he would describe how he likes to attack on the court.

“I’m a pass-first point guard who can also shoot the ball really well,” he said.  “And can defend the best player when needed.  Been focusing on getting faster and bigger, also working on tightening my handles.  I have been working on being more aggressive with the ball as well.”

No offers are yet on the table but schools like Army, Navy, VMI, and Belmont Abbey have all reached out and playing on a bigger stage at Carmel, Howard hopes that it can elevate his game and recruitment.
