One team that really got our scouts and fans excited this past weekend was Rasheed Wallace Select 17u (formly known as Boo Williams Carolina), a program that has some new, intriguing talent and one that is quickly making some noise in North Carolina.

They were in action at the Phenom Stay Positive and will be once again in the Phenom G3 Showcase and with Phenom Hoops during the live period, as this is a team college coaches should markdown to watch. When you look at the team as a whole, they bring a competitive nature and they play with a chip on their shoulder; with something to prove against the big boys. The 17u team really captured our eyes with their defensive tenacity, their swagger and confidence on the court, and their ability to really battle and take down some impressive programs. Sheed Wallace Select finished 3-1 in Bermuda Run, coming up just short in the championship in overtime but this is a very confident team led by their coach Patrick Cole.

When diving into their roster though, there is a lot to like about the pieces they have. Starting with the class of 2022, Elijah Thomas is a 6’3, downhill, athletic guard that gets it done on both ends of the court. He is strong with the ball and really can get to the rim. 2022 Jashaun Hawkins is another guard that brings energy and toughness, while also being extremely productive. 2022 Mustapha Shah is a 6’0 primary guard that brings strong leadership qualities, plays with a great motor, and gets after it on the defensive end. Lastly, you have 2022 6’7 Broderick Ellis who brings size, versatility, and a nice inside/out presence to the court.

Moving on to the 2023 class, there are plenty of options to look at here. You have to start with 2023 Tichyque Musaka, a 6’10 long, mobile, athletic forward that can erase shots defensively but also moves well and shows a lot of potential offensively as well. 2023 6’2 Keyon Webb is another name quickly catching on with others, as he displayed his scoring and ability to create/get into the paint to score but also make tough plays for his teammates as well. 2023 6’8 Jajuan Nicholls showcases a strong body to compete and battle down low around the basket, while you also have guards 2023 Maxwell Thornton and 2023 Rasheed Daniels, both of which help lead and play tremendous roles for this team.

Then you have two young prospects that should be ones to monitor in 2024 James Daly, who is 6’9, 200-pounds, and 2024 Jalik Nicholls, a 6’3 prospect. Both of which should be ones to watch in the 2024 class for North Carolina.

To put it simply, mark Sheed Wallace Select down as a must-see this summer. They bring each time they step on the court and there is a BUNCH of talent, of all levels, that can be found here.
