Being a scout for a high school basketball site, we don’t get too many chances to write about players in other sports as well but this opportunity was too good to pass up. 2022 6’6 Chance Morrow is an absolute stud on both the basketball court and football field, as he has shown that he can really be a dynamic athlete no matter where he is.
We have seen Morrow on the basketball countless times, as he brings a ton of versatility with his frame, athleticism, skillset, and IQ. When you watch him play on the basketball court, he can operate and flourish in several areas, is an absolute scoring machine when needed as well as get on the boards and make plays for others; he does it at a consistent rate.
But Morrow has also been producing on the football field as well and is quickly becoming a HUGE target for some of the top schools in the country.
Over the last week or so, he has racked up offers from Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Notre Dame and more will likely follow. And it can easily be seen why. With my time covering high school football as well in the past, you can easily see why he should and will hold double-digit offers for football as well, being a 6’6 wide receiver and a huge threat downfield and in the red zone.
This past season alone at West Charlotte, he recorded 33 receptions for 755 yards and 12 touchdowns; that is nearly 23 yards per reception and a touchdown every third reception!
Playing both sports though has really helped him and it seems to be paying off finally.
“Football has helped me with my physicality and my speed, my body control, my footwork, and my mental toughness,” he told Phenom Hoops. “Basketball has helped me with my hand-eye coordination, my grip, and my concentration with my hands.”
With the schools that have offered as far as football, all of them are hoping that he can be a big target for their program in the future and Morrow did mention that Notre Dame asked about possibly playing both sports.
And he is still getting some attention on the basketball side, as a few schools have continued to reach out about his game on the court.
There is no doubt about it, whether it is football or basketball, Morrow is an exceptional athlete and seems that he can flourish on the court or the field, as he will be a target for many schools in the class of 2022.
