The class of 2023 in Virginia is shaping up nicely and there is another prospect to really keep an eye on at Trinity Episcopal.  2023 6’5 Steven Stinson is an enticing player, with his ability to get to his spots on the floor, get downhill, and using his size against defenders.  We got a glance of Stinson back in 2019 at the Virginia Phenom 150 camp, where we had this to say.

“He’s a young, strong-bodied wing/forward prospect with an active motor and fairly well-rounded skillset. Stinson already possesses nice IQ, size, and polish, which immediately makes him a matchup problem for opponents, especially at his age level. He’s a great defender and rebounder with the ability to force turnovers and push the break in transition.  Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make him a more lethal offensive threat. Coach Prescott on Stinson: “Steve has a super-charged motor and plays hard on both ends of the floor. He’s going to be a great player for his high school team. He’s very coachable and, as a high school coach, I love that!”

Stinson caught some eyes early on, earning some impressive offers from Virginia Tech and VCU.  And his recruitment is continuing to pick up, adding offers from Ohio and East Tennessee State as well recently.

Phenom Hoops spoke with Stinson shortly after receiving an offer from Ohio, where he mentioned that he has been developing a nice relationship with them and they said that they have been watching and liking his game.

He then added an offer from East Tennessee State, as he is learning more about what the program has to offer.  But as right now, he knows that it is a very nice school.

Recruitment has been steady as of late and more schools are continuing to show interest, as Stinson will be a big target for many in the class of 2023 in the state of Virginia.
