Mount Airy 55 Reagan 43

The wait is finally over. It was awesome to see the NCHSAA schools back on the court. In the first night of action, Phenom Hoops traveled to Winston Salem to see the match-up between Mount Airy and Reagan. Mount Airy threw the first punch and stayed in control after the first initial hit. Mount Airy jumped out to a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the first quarter they hit four 3-pointers which helped them create their 14-point lead.

In the second half, Reagan made a run led by Jalill Rogers. They had a chance to cut the Mount Airy lead to four points but missed a free throw. The missed free throw led to a Mount Airy lay-up. After that moment, Mount Airy took control of the game and won 55-43.

Peyton Harmon 6’7 2021 (Mt. Airy)

Peyton did a tremendous job controlling the paint for the Granite Bears. He did a great job scoring around the basket and knocking in free throws. He dominated the glass on both sides of the ball. Scored on multiple put backs. On the defensive side of the ball, he had tremendous timing for blocking / altering shots. Even though he came off the bench he was ready when he came into the game. He was one of the most productive players on the court last night. He finished with 15 points.

Caden Fitzgibbons 6’1 2022 (Mt. Airy)

He impacted the game with his athleticism and toughness. From the tip he did a great job creating plays for himself and others. He led the big first quarter for Mount Airy with seven quick points. He made some really good plays off the bounce and showed the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter. Caden finished the game with 13 points.

Grant Routh 6’4 2021 (Mt. Airy)

He was one of the toughest players on the court. Even though he hit two 3’s he impacted the game with how active he was on defense. He had multiple steals and deflections. He was not scared to get on the floor for loose balls or take charges. He knows his role and does all the little things to help his team.

Jalill Rogers 6’3 2023 (Raegan)

Jalill is a really intriguing player. He is a long athletic wing who does a good job attacking the rim in the half court and in transition. He rebounds really well for his position. I am really excited to see how he continues to get better. Also, showed that he is capable from the perimeter.
