Lake Norman Christian has been in the news a ton this season and deservingly so. They are loaded with talent on multiple levels and bring in one of the biggest names in the country in Mikey Williams. But since the start of the season, it is about time that people and fans get a chance to see more of 2023 Trey Green.
Green is a 5’11 point guard that has seen a HUGE boost in his game and deserves all the credit he has earned, now showing that he is in the discussion in being one of the top prospects in his class for North Carolina and now a national name.
This hasn’t happened overnight. Displaying his talent early as a freshman at Vance, Green continued to put in the work on the court and in the weight room and continued to be a dominant force this summer playing with Team Charlotte.
Green is a fantastic floor general and seems to be the spoon that stirs the drink; he simply isn’t afraid of the big lights. For Team Charlotte this summer, he played with tremendous pace and leadership, leading the attack, creating off the dribble, pushing in transition, and scoring at the rim or with his outside game. Green showed that he is an absolute competitor on the courts.
Now playing at Lake Norman Christian, Green hasn’t run away from those same bright lights; he only continues to flourish on the big stage. He showed it to start the year vs. Oak Hill on ESPN and gave us another glimpse of how big he can play at the Phenom November Classic in Rock Hill where he finished with 25 points vs. The Burlington School.
Right now, Winthrop was the first to offer back in 2019 and Howard was the latest to send an offer, but he could and should quickly be a target by schools around the country. When speaking with the Lake Norman staff, schools like Northwestern, Tulsa, Michigan, North Carolina A&T, and Kansas have shown interest about him.
With Green and Mikey leading the way at Lake Norman Christian, there aren’t too many young backcourts out there as talented as those two, both being part of the 2023 class.
