Coach: Gary Hall
#0: 5’9 ’23 Trey Green (Lake Norman Christian)
Starting things off, we look at one of the most complete floor generals throughout North Carolina, Trey Green. He’s a smart, decisive, extremely well-rounded point guard prospect with an incredible understanding of how to run a team on both ends of the floor. Green offers a strong balance between playmaking and three-level scoring, and can place increased emphasis on whatever his team needs. He makes the right play with unwavering consistency and sets up his teammates in ideal spots for scoring opportunities. Green is slightly undersized but possesses the combination of IQ, quickness, and anticipation to overwhelm his assignment defensively. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would allow him to play alongside other primary ball-handlers when necessary. Coach Hall on Green: “Trey is a terrific point guard and overall teammate. He shoots the ball at a high clip, pushes the break in transition, and makes excellent decisions with the ball in his hands.” Green had a dynamic showing at camp and should see an uptick in his recruitment over the foreseeable future as a main cog for Lake Norman Christian.
#1: 6’3 ’24 Bishop Boswell (South Mecklenburg)
Next, we look at a player that should already be in consideration for the top spot in North Carolina’s Class of 2024, Bishop Boswell. He’s a smart, unselfish, well-rounded point guard prospect with an advanced two-way feel for the game, particularly for his age. Boswell seems to naturally lead by example through his decision-making and nearly complete skillset. He possesses great size for his position and offers an excellent balance between playmaking and three-level scoring. Boswell plays with a unique pace to his game, never rushed or out of control, and makes the proper read without fail. He’s already an excellent defender against all types of opponents and forces turnovers at a strong rate. Next in his development process is working to be more of a vocal presence, as it would make him an even better leader. Coach Hall on Boswell: “Bishop is a smart, young point guard that knows how to run a team. He scores with efficiency and makes timely passes to his teammates.” Boswell was terrific at camp and will certainly be a prospect for all types of Division I coaches to prioritize over the coming years at South Mecklenburg.
#2: 6’3 ’22 Logan Threatt (Concord Academy)
Moving onto a player that continues to quietly assert himself among the more dynamic prospects in the state, Logan Threatt. He’s a smart, savvy combo-guard prospect with a lethal three-level scoring arsenal and the ability to operate as a primary creator or assert himself without the ball. Threatt is an excellent perimeter shooter with useful passing instincts and ability to utilize his sturdy frame to absorb contact when attacking. He’s great at getting to his spots in transition but can also push the break himself off of rebounding opportunities. Next in his development process is working on more clearly defining his position, as it’ll only help his recruitment at the next level. Coach Hall on Threatt: “Logan is a skilled guard with the ability to score in a variety of different ways. He has good size for his position and operated well within the team on both ends of the floor.” Threatt did a lot of things well at camp and looks poised to enjoy a very productive upcoming season as a newcomer and focal point to Concord Academy.
#3: 6’4 ’23 Marcus Brown (Covenant Day)
Continuing onto a player that seems to naturally produce, regardless of setting or surrounding teammates, Marcus Brown. He’s a tough, well-rounded wing prospect with great defensive versatility and the ability to reliable contain multiple positions. Brown handles and passes the ball well for his size, but often finds scoring opportunities as a slasher or spot-up threat around the perimeter. He’s a quality rebounder with the necessary IQ and skill to push the break in transition and make proper decisions with the ball in his hands. Next in his development process is working to become a craftier ball-handler, as it would allow him to create more seamlessly for himself off the bounce. Coach Hall on Brown: “Marcus is a well-rounded player with a high motor and the ability to make plays with or without the ball in his hands. He’s a great defender and rebounder. He operates well within the team on both ends of the floor.” Brown found various ways to make his presence felt and will be one for college coaches to monitor over his coming years at Covenant Day.
#4: 6’4 ’21 Glynn Hubbard (Northside Christian)
Next, we look at a player with the necessary skillset and approach to adapt to various different roles, Glynn Hubbard. He’s a smart, well-rounded guard prospect with the ability to affect all facets of the game on both ends of the floor. Hubbard is a quality shooter that can effectively create for himself or others within the flow of the offense. He makes unselfish decisions with the ball but also understands how to seize scoring opportunities whenever available. Hubbard is also a quality rebounder for his position and does a nice job defensively of containing his assignment at the point of attack. Next in his development process is working to add strength, as it would make him a more physically imposing player on either end of the floor. Coach Hall on Hubbard: “Glynn is able to do a lot of different things on the court. He’s a capable scorer and playmaker that seems to find ways to contribute regardless of role.” Hubbard made a quality impact at camp and will be a prospect for college coaches to monitor throughout his senior season for Northside Christian.
#5: 6’8 ’21 Saiquone Harris (Word of God)
Moving onto a player that possesses an incredible amount of skill, particularly for his size, Saiquone Harris. He’s a long, crafty, athletic wing/forward prospect with the ability to score from all three levels. Harris is able to reliably attack the basket and finish above the rim or through contact, or assert himself as a shooter from midrange or beyond the arc. He handles and passes the ball well for his size, and is capable of defending multiple positions. Harris rebounds the ball effectively and understands how to push the break in transition. Next in his development process is working to add strength, as it would make him more physically imposing on both ends of the floor. Coach Hall on Harris: “Saiquone has a ton of talent and remaining upside. He possesses quality skill for his size and can cause matchup problems on either side of the ball. He’s also a quality athlete.” Harris did a lot of things well at camp and should see an uptick in his recruitment during another productive season for Word of God.
#7: 6’8 ’21 Dondre Watson (Bull City Prep)
Continuing onto a player that consistently stands out as one of the toughest, most aggressive prospects in the gym, Deondre Watson. He’s a long, wiry, athletic forward/post prospect with a high motor and the ability to overwhelm opponents on either side of the ball. Watson looks to finish everything around the basket and welcomes physicality when rising above the rim. He also shows the tools to knock down open jumpers at a solid clip. Watson moves very well for his size, both vertically and laterally, and blocks a ton of shots around the basket. He’s a quality rebounder and runs the floor very hard in transition. Next in his development process is working to stay out of foul trouble, as he’s far more valuable on the court than sideline. Coach Hall on Watson: “Deondre plays hard and doesn’t back down from any opponent. He shows fear of no one and it’s evident in the way he approaches the game.” Watson made his presence felt quite regularly at camp and should be a focal point for Bull City Prep during the upcoming season.
#8: 6’8 ’22 Nate Brafford (Rabun Gap)
Next, we look at a player that possesses a ton of ability despite being extremely unassuming, Nate Brafford. He’s a long, smart, wiry forward prospect with an incredible amount of skill and offensive versatility—especially for his size. Brafford is an efficient three-level scorer with the ability to operate as the primary cog or find opportunities within the flow of the offense. He handles and passes the ball very well, displaying vision, craftiness, and a willingness to make the right play whenever possible. Brafford also does a great job of altering/blocking shots, secure rebounds, and pushing the break when necessary. Next in his development process is working to add strength, as it will only help prepare him for the college game. Coach Hall on Brafford: “Nate is a skilled forward with a wiry frame. He shoots the ball well from the perimeter but also understands how to operate around the basket.” Brafford continues to be one of the more intriguing and productive prospects in the state, and should shine as the leader of Rabun Gap over the next two seasons.
#9: 6’10 ’21 Luc Therrien (Bull City Prep)
Finishing up, we look at a player that operated quite effectively as one of the main interior points of this team, Luc Therrien. He’s a strong, sturdy post prospect with great size and the ability to alter shots at a solid rate around the basket. Therrien shows the ability to finish with either hand around the basket or step out to knock down the open perimeter jumper. He moves well for his size and runs the floor hard in transition. Therrien consistently pursues rebounds and utilizes his frame to carve out space around the basket. Next in his development process is working to get quicker, as it would allow him to hedge ball screens and recover with less resistance. Coach Hall on Therrien: “Luc is a solid big man on both ends of the floor. He plays well within the team and doesn’t try to do too much with the ball. He can finish around the basket effectively.” Therrien did a lot of things well at camp and should fulfill a very useful role for Bull City Prep during the upcoming season.
