Special K’s Superstars (Based off the Players I Saw Play)

6’9 Jai Smith of Tea Marie 16U has been phenomenal all weekend. Showed that he is a HM Division 1 talent for sure. Very long, extremely athletic, and moves so fluidly on the court. Tenacious rebounder who attacked the boards every possession and has great hands. Used his length to be a great rim protector and defensive presence, blocking shots all weekend long. Showed the ability to attack from the wings and get out in transition. Can handle the ball well for his size which allowed him to push the break and create for his teammates. Killer mindset, looks to dunk on you every single play down the court and finishes well through contact. Very High Potential! Absolutely loved this kid!

6’2 Demar Anderson of Team Synergy 17U had a great scoring output this weekend.Showed that he has the ability at his size to be a productive scorer from all three levels of the court. Created well for himself and really got out in transition, running the floor hard. Got to the basket very well and is a crafty finisher. Created contact which allowed him to get to the free throw line consistently. Handled the ball well and got to his spots.  Plays with strength, poise, and controls the tempo of the game. 

6’5 Dessie Canty Jr. of Upward Stars Watson 17U is a good scorer who scored from everywhere on the court; he scored the ball well all weekend . Attacked the rim, created contact and consistently finished. Shot the ball well of the catch and finds the gap in the defense. Active, long defender who kept his hands on the ball and racked up the steals and deflections. Ran the floor and showed a craftiness in transition. Has a good frame and build and was consistently the best player on his team.

6’4 Donovan Atwell of Team Eat 16U is probably the best shooter in the gym this weekend. Had an extremely good showing this weekend from three, showed that he can shoot it at a very high level. Really good shooter off the catch and off the dribble. Moved well without the ball and found the open spot on the floor. Really high IQ and offensive awareness that allows him to be in the right spot at the right time. He is a must find player for the defense, any amount of space and he is letting it fly. College Coaches need to get on him now! Will be an immediate addition to the roster.

6’7 Sam Alajiki of WV D’Up 17U is a freak athlete, one of the better athletes I’ve seen this weekend. Has a great frame and body for a wing and has a very quick first step. Extremely versatile who can guard multiple positions. Got to the rim all weekend and exploded to finish above the rim constantly. Very strong and physical player who plays with intensity. Invited contact and finished with ease, lived at the free throw line. Has the ball handling ability that allows him to get where he wants and also push the ball in transition. His athleticism allows him to be a great defender.

6’4 Umar Lawson of Upward Stars Pee Dee 17U has lived in the paint and in the passing lanes all weekend. Absolutely thrives in transition and is very explosive. Used his length and athleticism to hound ball handlers and rack up on steals. Rebounded the ball well and really runs the floor. Looks to finish above the rim constantly. Plays very hard and plays with a winning mentality. Scholarship-Level player who will add immediate defense to your team

5’9 Kadyn Dawkins of Cobras 2021 is a super quick and fast guard that controls the tempo of his team and the game. Although he is small, he is definitely a player that stands out when he is on the court. Scores the ball very well and gets inside the lane with ease. Really crafty finisher who changes speed with the best of them. Creates well for his teammates and puts them in spots where they can score. Pressures the ball defensively and has really quick hands. Has had a great weekend! 

6’10 Corneilous Williams of TLBA 2022 17U has an extremely high motor and is a complete workhorse. Attacks the boards hard and is a relentless rebounder on both ends of the ball. Has a great frame and is super long which allows him to protect the paint and block shots at a high rate. Has great touch around the rim and is an impressive athlete. Runs the floor very well and gets out in transition. Plays above the rim! He is a consistent double-double type of player. Had a terrific weekend and will continue to impress college coaches. 

6’3 Quan Peterson of Next Level SC 16U has been one of the players that has opened eyes this weekend. Really crafty guard with great handle and ball control. Got to his spots at will and was almost unguardable.  Attacked the rim and really got to the lane; finished consistently in the paint all weekend. Has great vision that allowed him to create for his teammates. Active defender who used his quickness and active hands to stay in front of the ball handlers. Was impressive this weekend for sure.  College coaches should take a look at him.

5’10 Trey Green of Team Charlotte 16U is the definition of a pass-first point guard. Smooth guard who really created for his teammates all weekend. He is the type of guard that can leave the game with double-digit assists. Very active on defense and took pride on that side of the ball; stayed solid and had really good defensive awareness. Controls the pace of the game and is never sped up by the defense. Floor general who is a leader for his team on the court. A true point guard and natural leader.
