When it comes to “glue guys” for successful teams like Butler High School in Matthews, North Carolina, one has to think of 6’6 215 lb. Jah’Lil Carter. This past season, Butler rode a perfect 32-0 record into the NCHSAA 4A state championship before losing a heartbreaker to SW Guilford.

This past season, Carter put together a solid all around game and almost averaged a double double for the season. He averaged 8 PPG, 8 RPG, 2 APG, and 2 BPG. During the season, Carter did manage to have nine games where he had a double double of points and rebounds. In speaking with assistant coach Lawrence Johnson, he stated, “Jah’lil has a quiet reserve. He is a family oriented and mild mannered young man. On the court, he has a relentless motor and a fierce competitor. More importantly, he can guard all positions as well as score from all three levels. He is a player that will make any roster better.”

These comments dovetail nicely with our assessment and past evaluations. We have always been impressed with his effort and energy displayed on both ends of the court. He is fearless rebounders and has active hands on the defensive end of the court. Carter plays with a full throttle approach and one thing is for sure, you will never have to teach him how to play with effort. This comes natural and his competitive nature is quite noticeable in every setting and game we have watched over the past two years. College coaches looking for a tough, blue collar player should look no further than Jah’Lil Carter of Butler High School.
