Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Emmanuel Okpomo
Class: 2020
Committed to: Wake Forest

What the Player Said:

PHR: What made Wake Forest the place for you in the end'

Okpomo: First, I wanted a place close to my home here in Mississippi and Wake Forest happens to be the closest one for me. And I like Wake Forest, as they were the most interested after talking to some other couple of schools. I once went for an official visit to ETSY, when Coach Forbes was there and I really did like how they practiced and how coordinated the setting was. Coach Forbes is a great coach who will help develop my game to dominate at a high level. I also believe I can make a great impact for the team to get to a higher level, where we are going to compete for championships.

PHR: How do they think they can use you at the next level'

Okpomo: That I don’t know but I know they seem me as a great defensive player.

PHR: What did the staff say when you informed them'

Okpomo: They were just very excited.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Emmanuel Okpomo could be the surprise or sleeper player for Oak Hill this season. While he is still somewhat raw offensively, he does sport good footwork in the paint and has a jump hook as his one go-to move. That being said, he will contribute heavily on the defensive end of the court. Sporting an enormous 7’6 wingman, Okpomo will be asked to know his role of being an elite level rim protector and actively crashed the boards on both ends of the court. We were really impressed with his ability to anticipate rebounds and in speaking with head coach Steve Smith, he stated, “Okpomo is excellent in defensive transition and has the footwork and mindset to properly make the right reads defensively. If Okpomo will defend the rim, rebound and run the floor in transition, any scoring will be the icing on the cake for this athletic and lengthy Okpomo.” – Rick Lewis in 2019
