South Carolina has been getting a lot of attention lately in multiple classes.  Several prospects are securing offers from schools around the country and you can add another prospect to that list, as 2021 6’3 Umar Lawson earned his first offer.

Lawson is an explosive, team-first guard that has a fantastic motor and feel on both ends of the floor.  He works incredibly hard on the court, putting in the dirty work and making those winning plays for his team.  On the offensive end, Lawson is an excellent penetrator that finishes above the rim and through contact.

That is why Coker sent him his first offer. It was a moment he won’t forget.

“It feels great,” Lawson told Phenom Hoops.  “I’m very blessed that they took notice in offering me first and there are many more to come.  They said I would be a great fit for their program and also said I could be the next big thing coming out of South Carolina.”

It still may be early for Lawson and Coker, but he has quickly learned that it is a program that shows a tremendous amount of love to their players and they put in the hard work both on and off the court; that is something that really excites him.

Coker was the first to put an offer on the table but they may not be the last, as Lawson has also been earning interests from schools like Virginia Tech, Presbyterian, Charleston Southern, SeatonHill, UNC-Pembroke, Catawba, Lander, Saint Thomas, and Southern Wesleyan.
