Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Anjay Cortez
Class: 2020
Committed to: Alabama A&M

What the Player Said:

PHR: What made Alabama A&M the place for you in the end'

Cortez: The reason I picked Alabama A&M is that they believed in me and my abilities. I feel like I fit well with their system and what they are trying to do with the program. I felt that it was a great place for me to thrive and work hard and become a better player and a better man.

PHR: What are they hoping you can provide to the program with your skillset'

Cortez: The coaches said they are hoping for me to have a similar game to what I had in high school but build off of it when I get to college. They said my toughness, my defense by being able to guard all five positions, and my athleticism will help a lot. They said they want me to perfect my long-range jump shot and ability to create off the dribble.

PHR: What will be your focus this offseason'

Cortez: This offseason, my focus is to put on some weight and build muscle.  I also am working on my ball-handling and three-point shot a lot too.

Stats Last Season:

Playing at United Faith Christian Academy, Cortez played in 25 games and averaged 7.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game.
