Coach: Jake Senyo

#39: 6’0’ 23 Lemi Henderson (Hickory Ridge)

Starting things off, we look at a player that displayed a fairly well-rounded skillset for his age, Lemi Henderson. He’s a young wing prospect with nice size, vision, quickness, and the ability to finish strong around the basket. Henderson is unselfish and typically looks to make the best available play. He moves quite well without the ball and defends his position effectively on the other end. Henderson is also a useful rebounder that can push the break in transition. Next in his development process is working on becoming a more consistent perimeter shooter, as it would take his offensive game to another level. Coach Senyo on Henderson: “Lemi is a solid wing player that has good length when closing out on shooters. He can guard multiple positions and score at the hoop. He really picked up his game as the day progressed.” Henderson worked hard and enjoyed a solid showing at camp, and could be a prospect to keep an eye on going forward. 

#61: 5’5 ’20 Charles Jones (Phillip O’Berry)

Next, we look at a player that truly embodies the “heart over height” notion on both ends of the floor, Charles Jones. He’s a smart, tough, heady guard prospect with phenomenal quickness and two-way instincts. Jones is great at running a team, able to create effectively for each of his teammates while also taking advantage of scoring opportunities from all three levels. He can blow by defenders, attack the basket strong, set up others with relative ease, and knock down perimeter jumpers at an efficient clip. Jones also proved to be a terrific defender that understands how to mirror his assignment and force turnovers. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would allow him to find even more scoring chances. Coach Senyo on Jones: “ Charles is a scrappy guard with great court vision. He plays great on-ball defense and gets a ton of steals and assists. He has a nice jumper with great dribble moves.” Jones was a reliable contributor throughout camp and could be a quality late addition for the right programs. 

#75: 5’9 ’21 Devante Gonzalez (Catawba Ridge)

Moving onto a player that simply excelled at getting downhill and attacking the basket, Devante Gonzalez. He’s a smart, strong, extremely quick point guard prospect with great penetration instincts and the ability to create for himself or others quite effectively. Gonzalez is a great defender that utilizes his blend of quickness and positioning to force turnovers. He’s a strong rebounder for his size and maintains a high activity level on both ends of the floor. Next in his development process is working to become a more consistent three-point shooter, as it would take his offensive game to another level. Coach Senyo on Gonzalez: “Devante is a smart guard with great change of direction. He plays downhill and is very explosive when attacking the rim. He rebounds the ball very well for a guard. Devante has a great attitude and listens to his teammates/coach at all times. He’s a pass-first point guard with a very solid offensive arsenal.” Gonzalez enjoyed another productive showing at camp and should be poised for an excellent upcoming senior season at Catawba Ridge.

#78: 5’9 ’23 Cole Penland (TC Roberson)

Continuing onto a player that showed a willingness to do whatever possible to involve himself in the action, Cole Penland. He’s a young, wiry guard prospect that displayed solid vision and the ability to operate within the team concept on both ends of the floor. Penland is a useful defender that knows how to position himself for success. He moved well without the ball and found multiple scoring opportunities as a cutter. Next in his development process is working to become a more consistent perimeter shooter, as it would take his offensive game to another level. Coach Senyo on Penland: “Cole found himself in the right place at the right time whenever he moved well without the ball. He can continue to work on taking better shots and improving his overall ball-handling skills.” Penland worked hard throughout camp and could be a player to keep an eye on with continued work. 

#100: 6’0 ’22 George Cutler IV (Cape Henry Collegiate)

Next, we look at a player that was arguably the sharpest and craftiest ball-handler on this team, George Cutler IV. He’s an unselfish, team-first guard prospect with a nice balance between scoring and playmaking. Cutler runs a team well and can make some very impressive passes with the ball in his hands. He also displayed quickness, which allowed him to stand out as a pretty solid on-ball defender. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would allow him to find even more scoring opportunities as an off-ball cutter. Coach Senyo on Cutler: “George is a very versatile guard that attacks the basket with various dribble packages. He has good handles and passing abilities with a nice jumper. He’s a natural scorer that can play either guard position well.” Cutler did a lot of things well during his time at camp and should be a prospect to keep an eye on going forward. 

#117: 6’2 ’20 Connor Gillis (Gaston Christian)

Moving onto a player that highlighted a pretty well-rounded skillset and approach on both ends of the floor, Connor Gillis. He’s a smart, unselfish, team-first guard prospect with an exceptionally accurate midrange jumper and quality three-point stroke. Gillis does a little bit of everything on offense while primarily operating as a spot-up threat along the perimeter. He’s a solid defender that plays with great energy and effort. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would make him an even better spot-up threat. Coach Senyo on Gillis: “Connor has good vision and moves pretty well without the ball. He spaces the floor with good shots from midrange. He has a high IQ and places the ball well with timed assists. Connor has a deceptive first step and finishes well at the hoop.” Gillis did a lot of things well and made his presence felt throughout camp, making him a name worth noting for the future. 

#135: 6’5 ’20 Zachary Murphy (Crossroads Christian)

Continuing onto a player that possesses all the necessary tools to be a strong contributor at the next level, Zachary Murphy. He’s a long, wiry, crafty wing prospect with an excellent scoring arsenal and the ability to operate within various roles on both ends of the floor. Murphy offers a nice blend of athleticism and smooth tendencies, able to consistently create for himself off the dribble and make his presence felt offensively. He possesses great quickness and can dictate the action quite effortlessly. Next in his development process is playing with a more consistent motor, as he has the ability to become a defensive stopper. Coach Senyo on Murphy: “Zachary can play multiple positions. He defense got better as the day wen on. He got to the rim with some great layups. He passed well on the give-and-go and got more involved with the offense when he moved without the ball.” Murphy enjoyed a solid showing at camp and should be a prospect for college coaches to pursue throughout the upcoming months.

#138: 6’5 ’22 Elias Ayres (Neuse Charter)

Next, we look at a player that stood out as the most consistent and reliable three-point shooter on this team, Elias Ayres. He’s a wiry wing/forward prospect with great perimeter skills, particularly for his size. Ayres is a great spot-up threat that typically worked without the ball but also displayed a solid handle and overall understanding of how to get others involved. He moves decently well without the ball and makes the extra pass whenever possible. Ayres rebounds his position effectively and runs the floor properly in transition. Next in his development process is working to become quicker, as it would make him a better on-ball defender. Coach Senyo on Ayres: “Elias is a great knockdown shooter that grabs rebounds and has a beautiful stroke from beyond the arc. He has a nice spin-move when going to the basket. Elias passes the ball well and got more aggressive as the day went on.” Ayres highlighted a pretty useful array of skills during camp and has the tools to be a quality contributor throughout the foreseeable future.

#140: 6’5 ’21 Omarion Farrar (Rolesville)

Finishing up, we look at a player that naturally seems to find production as a result of his motor and athleticism, Omarion Farrar. He’s a long, wiry, athletic wing/forward prospect that can score with efficiency from anywhere inside the arc. Farrar is a great rebounder, useful passer, well-rounded defender, and fairly versatile two-way threat. Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a shooter off the dribble, as it would make him a more lethal offensive threat. Coach Senyo on Farrar: “Omarion is a high-flyer that attacks the rim with ease. He’s a very solid rebounder and great shot-blocker. He’s a very unselfish player that could easily become a leader on any team if he were more vocal. Omarion has a nice shooting stroke and good overall midrange game.” Farrar highlighted a ton of ability during his time at camp and should be a prospect for college coaches to focus on throughout the next calendar year, as he definitely has a place at the next level.
