What a night it was on Monday for junior guard Kameron Langley. Coming into his game vs. UMES, Langley only needed three assists to break the program’s record held by Thomas Griffis.

Averaging over seven assists per game this season, it would have been surprising if it didn’t happen vs. UMES. Just seven minutes into the first half though, Langley found Darus Maddox for an easy bucket that ultimately gave him his 583rd career assists, breaking Griffis’ record.

It is a record that he and his family should be proud of; all the hard work that Kam has put in over the years, Langley will find his name at the top of the program’s history books.

Langley has always been a tremendous leader on the floor, whether it has been at North Carolina A&T or playing in high school; he seems to just have that knack to be a consistent floor general. But it shouldn’t be any surprise by of what he has been able to do for the Aggies.

Just take a look at his NC Top 80 evaluation back in 2016 with Phenom Hoops:

“What a complete PG! You have to love the leadership and approach Kameron Langley brings to the game. He is constantly making winning plays and is a low risk, high return player. Coach Carrier stated, “ I was so impressed with his attitude, basketball IQ, effort and overall team play. Kameron is able to go either direction and has amazing dribble penetration ability.” In addition, we were equally impressed with his on/off the ball defense. Camp setting not usually doesn’t produce high intensity on defense, but that can’t be said about Kameron Langley! He simply creates havoc on defense and will give as much effort or MORE on defense as he does on the offensive end, which is almost unheard of.”

Coming in as a freshman, he averaged seven points and five assists per game. Now, Langley is close to averaging a triple-double this season and has been a key component in having the Aggies in the driver seat of the MEAC at 11-3 in conference play.

Already surpassing the assists record and only a junior, it could be safe to say that Langley could put this record out of reach for quite some time with him having yet another year, something that Griffis said to him at halftime after passing his record.
