First Half
To say it as easy as possible, Wesleyan punched Greensboro Day in the mouth early, jumping out to an early double-digit lead. Led by Kaleb Brooks’ 13 points in the first quarter, Wesleyan led 23-10 after the first quarter.
Second-quarter though, it was the pressure defense from the Bengals, helping create turnovers that led to runouts and easy buckets in transition. The top line of their defense led by Cam Hayes and Brock Williams helped Greensboro Day capture the lead at halftime 26-25.
Second Half
The defense continued to create havoc for Wesleyan, as they struggled to find their offense and score. GDS continued to push and attack to gain a little separation but give Wesleyan credit, they did not go away easily.
Wesleyan cut it do six points late in the fourth quarter but free throws helped secure the home win in a great rivalry.

2021 G Brock Williams: Without the services of Carson McCorkle, Williams has stepped up his game on both sides of the floor. He continues this tear scoring for the Bengals, leading them once again in that column but is also showing that he can play well on and off the ball. His defense continues to pick up, helping him get out in transition and getting the ball at the rim, much as he did in the past. Williams has continued to play really well when the team has needed him.
2020 Cam Hayes: Hayes played with poise and wasn’t flustered in initiating the offense. He picked his spots, played with a great feel, and got to the line on multiple occasions to help secure the win at home.
2020 Christian Bailey: Without Bryce Harris being able to play much of the game, Bailey really stepped up and played with great physicality. He scored well around the rim, played through contact, and got to the line on multiple occasions. He was that force down low and one has to give credit when it is due, as he finished with 11 points in the win.
Wesleyan
2020 F Kaleb Brooks: Brooks came out on fire, scoring 13 of his 17 points in the first quarter. What is intriguing about this senior is that he has solid size and built but he also feels comfortable playing on the outside, knocking multiple three’s down and putting the ball on the floor.
