Jayden Doyle is One of NCs Premier 2021 Prospects
Not many have heard about Jayden Doyle, a 6’5” junior wing at Freedom Christian in Fayetteville, North Carolina. However, we were fortunate enough to see him this summer on the AAU circuit and in his first week practicing with Freedom, after transferring this year from South Doyle High School near Knoxville, Tennessee. We immediately ranked Doyle a conservative 11th in North Carolina’s 2021 class. It was obvious, his skill, he could get buckets with a very projectable frame. Through three games in Phenom’s High School Jamboree, 7 games in the regular season and 2 games at the Hoops and Dreams, we feel like a bump is necessary for Doyle.
Freedom Christian is currently a Top 5 team in North Carolina’s NCISAA and stands 8-1 on the year and Doyle is averaging 16.2 points on 65% from the field and 48% from 3. Add in 4 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game and you see why this 6’5” bouncy wing projects so well moving forward.
Is Farmville Central and ELITE Team
They came into this game ranked 72 in the country by MaxPreps. They return most everyone off a 32-0 state championship team from last year and have high level guard play. Their style is a perfect mix of pressing, athleticism and running mixed with skill and IQ. Through two games this season, they have scored 98 and 96 points. In the Hoops and Dreams Showcase, against defending state champion Greenfield, Farmville Central put three players in double figures, including one with 40 and another with 28. As a team they shot 64% from the field, 45.5% from 3 and created 14 turnovers with 8 steals and 4 blocks in the game. Farmville has the pieces, led by 6’3” junior Terquavion Smith (an NC State commit), 6’1” senior Justin Wright (an NC Central signee) and 6’1” senior Semage Teel, these guards have been through the ringer, as they each started all 32 games for Farmville last season. They also have 6’7” junior Leontae Moye in the middle, who is incredibly bouncy with excellent defensive timing. This team is MUST SEE!
This team plays as a team, they have a depth of skill and athleticism. In 2A basketball, they should go untouched. However, they are taking on all comers. In the Good Guys vs. Cancer event they’re playing Nationally ranked Word of God, in the John Wall they have a matchup with 4A Broughton, then possibly Top 10 Patrick School, 4A Apex Friendship, Top 50 Millbrook or Top 3 Montverde. Are they elite' They are certainly playing like one of the three best public schools in the Hoop State…How elite are they' We will find out soon, but this could be a special season.
We Continue to Sleep on Trinity Christian, Why'!
They have a proven record of, not only winning but, producing high level players for the next level. Head Coach Heath Vandevender is known as an excellent coach and this team is very loaded with talent. Each night out this team has a different player capable of going for 20+. While you look at the roster and see its 3-headed sophomore guard monster of 5’10” Cam Oates, 6’5” Freddie Dilione and 6’2” Jamari McDougald and realize how talented they really are. However, this team has senior leadership to steady the ship as well. Looking at 6’8” unsigned senior Todd Burt, 6’5” unsigned senior Travon Jackson, 6’ unsigned senior Marcus Boykin and 6’8” junior Rob Wright. This team has a depth of talent but also great positional size. They can run with smaller teams and they can bang with larger teams.
You can look at the 7 names listed above and expect them all to be on college rosters when they graduate from Trinity. When you have depth, coaching, talent and positional versatility you’re on to something. A couple things to be assured of here, look for Trinity to be right in the mix of things come state championship time and college coaches (at all levels) should be in this gym.
Is Liberty Heights Who We Thought they Were to Start the Season'!
Even after graduating a top 75 player to Alabama, and a host of other guys to play in college, Liberty Heights has reloaded this season. However, they built their roster a little differently, with some unknown players who will come out with a chip on their shoulder and compete. Not to say previous teams didn’t compete, but these guys are just different. Not only to mention their competitive nation, however this team has great positional size and athleticism and they can really shoot the ball. With a tough schedule at hand, Liberty Height has come out to a roaring 4-1 start to the year. To start the year we had them ranked highly in our overall Sweet 16, only to drop after a loss to a very good Concord First Assembly team. Well, they took no prisoners at the Hoops and Dreams Showcase, showing they are a complete team who can step on your throat in a heartbeat.
This team is led by 6’6” unsigned senior Kahari Rogers, who has taken the reigns his senior year and consistently producing game in and game out. Look at the inside duo of 6’9” unsigned senior Tay Williams and 6’7” unsigned senior Dominique Davidson. They are like an Thunder and Lightning duo with Williams the run and jump guy with a jump shot and Davidson the powerful post who is strong, explosive and plays with a non-stop motor. 6’5” Kam Edwards has stepped up to have some big games, 6’ unsigned senior Antonee Abraham is the straw that stirs the drink, 6’5” Devon Gordon can really shoot the ball, 6’9” Jemal Davis is a high-level rim protector and has touch and showing some ball skills. Add in what 6’5” Trevaughn Booker and 6’3” Jeremy Baker are doing and you have a DEEP team filled with college-level talent. This is a team capable of beating any team on any given night, also a team college coaches at all level should be in watching, regularly.
North Carolina Has A Lot of Parity This Year, Except with Moravian Prep, They’re The Hoop State’s Cream of the Crop
Moravian Prep took November by storm, not only beating everyone in their paths but destroying them all in the process. They are led by a pair of ACC players in NC State signees Josh Hall and Shakeel Moore. They have size with 6’10” Javarzia Belton, 6’8” Luke Davis and 6’9” Jordan Wildy. Their wing depth is great with 6’5” Jamahri Harvey and 6’3” Darrius Davis and the backup PG Amare Haynie all logging great, productive minutes every night. In fact, against Village Christian, Moravian Prep had 9 guys who each logged over 11 minutes in the game, with no one player playing over 22 minutes.
Moravian Prep used November to show everyone they were the dominant team in North Carolina, and nationally relevant. Moravian Prep will use December to show everyone how nationally relevant they are. They have matchups with nationally ranked Dream City Christian and AZ Compass (both of Arizona) at the Battle at the Rock and then they turn around and play Aspire Academy out of Kentucky and Orangeville Prep from Canada at the Bojangles Bash. If Moravian Prep goes 4-0 in these game (which they very well may), they will be a Top 20 team in the country heading into the John Wall Holiday Invitational where they will be on a collision course with Top 10 Hillcrest Prep and maybe Top 100 Word of God or Callaway out of Mississippi. Without a doubt, Moravian Prep has turned everyone’s heads.
