Devawn is an elite athlete and scorer but more importantly, he’s an elite student with straight A’s consistently! His game is highlighted by good length and quickness and the ability to put the ball in the basket from all angles. He has a great touch and creativity attacking the rim and is a threat to score over you, around you, in front of you or thread the needle and drop off a nice pass to a cutter out of nowhere. He’s dynamic! He’s shifty. Devawn is a left-handed shooter and can score from the beyond the arc demonstrating a nice fluid stroke and solid mechanics but really does his damage off the bounce where he is so creative. He has a great first step and can blow by you and explode to the rim or use his crafty handle and ability to change speeds and directions with abrupt stops and explosive starts and have you spinning.
Devawn has a quick tight handle and uses crossovers, inside outs, behind the back dribbles and stutter steps and really has an array of break down dribble moves you rarely find on a player so young especially given the ability to execute them flawlessly and quickly while attacking the rim. He is an explosive leaper and dominates in tight spaces. In the open floor, he’s simply spectacular pushing the ball with excellent end to end quickness, able to make a dribble move at full speed or change directions and accelerate quickly all while looking ahead to make a pass or look to attack. He shoots off the dribble so well with an abrupt stop and pop that you can’t give him any breathing room yet it’s nearly impossible to stay in front of him. His energy is evident defensively where he not only defends the dribble at either wing but he is an active rebounder on both ends of the floor and has enough physical tools to battle bigger players inside with success. Devawn has great awareness not only as a passer but defensively in passing lanes and he anticipates well. He is truly a guy who can take over a game in long stretches and will explode on the recruiting scene this season! Get on him now!
