Khaliyl Davis 6’6 180 2020 Wilson High School, Portsmouth VA
Khaliyl is a tremendous athlete with explosive leaping ability in addition to length and a great motor. His combination of explosiveness, quickness, and energy makes for an imposing inside presence. His offensive game at this point doesn’t feature a great deal of shot-making creativity but he doesn’t have to create much when he can explode to the rim and dunk on most opponents. Khaliyl has good shot mechanics and when set he can knock down the jumper with three-point range. He’s also a good finisher around the rim for stick-backs and has gotten better on non-dunk finishes as he works to do a better job playing through contact. He demonstrates a great deal of explosiveness, athleticism, and aggressiveness and attempts to dunk most everything. Khaliyl is capable of getting to the rim with the dribble and scoring. His rangy strides, capable handle, and good quickness allow him to eat up real estate quickly as he slashes around and over defenders. On the defensive end, those physical traits allow Khaliyl to be a force in the paint. He rebounds outside his area frequently; he is quick off the floor on his initial and second jump and has good timing for blocked shots. Khaliyl has a lot of defensive versatility as he has solid footwork, quick feet, and length allowing him to be effective at the top of the press and allows him to effectively defend multiple positions. He brings a great deal of enthusiasm and energy to the floor, loves to compete and has a nonstop motor. Khaliyl was outstanding at the recent Virginia Wesleyan University Team Camp in July and as a result, earned an offer from NAIA Bluefield College.
